Hop over to Bergamot station in Santa Monica. It's a former train station that is today a giant "mall of art galleries." There's maybe 30 galleries there, mostly showing living, contemporary artists. You could find an artist you like and get some info from the gallery on the artist. The gallery might be able to set-up an interview for you (not required, but a super-cool bonus (for your presentation and for a few extra points)) The gallery will certainly be able to give you lots of info on the artist.
